Small Group Instruction |Behavioral Health Setting

We are very excited to be partnering with a new hospital facility in the Washington, DC area! We are looking to bring on board a passionate teacher to assist with our adolescent units!

The position involves working with students in a small classroom setting to help support them academically while they are out of school and receiving treatment. These students are attending an inpatient program while they’re receiving treatment for a variety of mental concerns including development disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other maladaptive disorders. Part of their structured day is to receive up to 2 hours of educational instruction. We will working on 3 different units within this facility, and the units are broken down by age groups. The students vary in age from 10-18 years old. You will mostly be working with adolescents but there is a possibility that a student aged 10-13 will be within the classroom. An average class size will be between 9-12 students.

Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Teaching multiple classes in small group settings
• Creating lesson plans and obtaining school curriculum for each child
• Working with children on their individual school curriculum
• Communicating with hospital staff
• Updating daily attendance and creating daily session reports for each student
• Communicating with student’s teachers and schools about progress

Many of these tasks involve using LearnWell’s custom created database (SalesForce), MS Word, and electronic communication.

Hourly rate for position is between $20-$22/hr. This role is an 8 hour per day position that is for 10 months of the year. Your day will consist of 5 hours of instruction, and 3 hours of administrative time.
